Wow! I was curious as to how The Detective was aligning with The Mechanic. Like The Mechanic there were a few places in the story that made me want to throw my iPad. I liked the relationship between Jasmine and Heath. Times got a bit hairy and tense. A few surprises. Also glad to hear from some of the characters from The Mechanic. A few laughs brought on by Gage. And some kindness from Olivia. I enjoyed this book but not as much as The Mechanic. Please don't get me wrong. I'm just a bit more impartial towards Gage. But Heath is coming in a very close 2nd. I'm looking forward to new releases. I have enjoyed every book I've read by Vanessa Waltz. She has a gift of writing. I'd recommend.Product details

I loved this story! Heath and Jasmine were both so sweet, and believable. They made me laugh over and over. And Heath seems like a total hottie!! I also loved that we got another visit of Gage and Olivia, from The Mechanic. Great read! Thanks Ms Waltz for another great book, cannot wait for the next one!!!
Let me begin by saying that I did enjoy The Detective. It has a good story line and the characters complimented each other well. Heath was Hot! No doubt on that. He's smart, sexy, dominant with a dirty mouth but he's also very sweet and charismatic. Overall, it's a good book. Giving it 4.5 stars.

An unscrupulous FBI agent (also the ex-boyfriend of Jas) goes to Fair Oaks to find her there. He throws his weight around playing havoc for everyone in the town. Read what happens when he goes berserk and how the town comes together amid the lies being told.
I loved this book so much I bought it.
Now I need to read The Mechanic
Well, she's done it again! The Mechanic was great, and this one is just as good. - and just as funny! Our heroine is Jasmine (real name Jade), and she's been hiding out in a little town for nearly two years, Her parents are con artists, stealing money from poor pensioners, and looking for our girl so they can convince her to give them the money left to her by her grandfather. Her former fiance is Richard, a crooked FBI agent, who is also after her, because he knows her grandfather left her a priceless jewel, worth a million dollars, and he wants it more than he wants her. See why she's hiding out?
This story was okay. I didn't really care for Heath and I thought Jasmine/Jade gave into his demands entirely too easily. A couple times I would have liked to see her knee him in the groin instead of melt into his arms when he grabbed her and kissed her. But that's just my opinion. I like buildup of the sexual tension in the books I read and the one had none. It wasn't a bad story but it definitely wasn't my favorite either.
You ever have one of those books that sits on your and then all of a sudden you choose it? This was that book for me and I am so happy I finally read it! This is a pretty funny book. It was not what I was expecting. Heath is a detective that is sent to find Jasmine/Jade who has been missing for years - he discovers who she is pretty quickly but he's drawn to her and the little town she is hiding out in. He's not ready to turn her in and he is having too much fun annoying her. Visualizing the antics they got themselves into was very easy and I found myself laughing out loud quite a lot. The secondary characters were strong too and it was just a fun, light read.
