Guardians Of The Akasha

Eighteen-year old Keira Wilde has finished school and is determined to make her own plans for her future, thank you very much. She wants to be a photographer; not go to Oxford, like her parents want, or be a hero, like her aunt wants. But Keira’s plans go flying out of the window when she is attacked on the streets of London and she is forced to use her powers in self-defense.
Unfortunately, her actions attract the attention of a predator intent on using her...or destroying her. Preferring to be neither used nor destroyed, Keira takes charge of her destiny and enters the hidden world of the Guardians of the Akasha.
Fighting side by side with the battle-scarred Marco Santana, they race from London to Argentina and a castle in the forests of the Czech Republic to find the source of all knowledge and prevent the fabric of time from unraveling.

The problem with finding a great author is that they generally write a great deal slower than I read! This book was recommended to me by a friend and although I have a long list of books downloaded on my Kindle waiting to be read, I pushed the others back and started this one. I was so into the story that I didn't even realise that I was nearly finished. (That's the one downside of Kindle... the ending can creep up on you faster than expected because you can't feel the amount of remaining pages).
Anyway, I tried very hard to stretch out the last 20% of the book, but alas, I couldn't put it down. I was sucked in and wrapped up in Keira's world.
Not only is the story original, but it is beautifully written and the dialogue is particularly good. Not once did I cringe in embarrassment for a character.
I wish that I could review this book as eloquently as the author writes, but let's just say that I will be waiting with bated breath for the author's next book. Please hurry!!

Main Characters Keira & Marco Santana!!!
After reading the blub, I knew this was my kind of story.
The story takes you on a wild trip of good vs. evil with supernatural powers. A lot of characters are involved but the two main ones are Keira who's an older teen that had her future planned out, but not yet told her parents, and was getting ready to go to college & Marco Santana (really like the name) Leader of the Draaken and protector of the Guardian. The story takes place in London but takes you to several other locations around the world. Although the story is not very descriptive with the locations except that they are traveling to and from these locations. A little disappointed with this aspect, I would have enjoyed it if some type of landmarks were described.
The romance part was foreseeable as soon as the male stepped in the scene, but that's okay, I don't mind knowing who the love interest is going to be early in the story. The story had several twists that I was not expecting but some were a given.
What story would be complete without an evil deranged power hungry manipulator and in this story that would be Deamon and his Watchers who want the power of the Akasha.
I enjoyed the story vey much and would recommend the book. There are a few battle scenes which naturally have death, but nothing too graphic. I would not have a problem allowing my children to read when they were young. We have to remember that this is just a story that can and will take you away to a different world with a happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Guardians of the Akasha is a fantastic new adult story, highly enjoyable and an excellent example of the genre; story-driven with plenty of action, a touch of romance, a terrible opponent and gutsy main characters. It's well written and has an interesting and clearly thought out metaphysical basis, something I am particularly fond of in fantasy.
In this genre there is no room for long descriptions or pages and pages devoted to character development, everything must bow to the story and the drama has to kick in early. Stander has done this brilliantly. We come to know our characters and their environment as the action happens. Eighteen-year old Keira Wilde has just finished school and is making plans for her future, but when she is attacked in a street in London, she has to use her powers to defend herself. Others notice the power of her magical signature, someone she knows and someone she doesn't want to know. This sets in action a series of events that lead her to a castle in Europe and a new understanding of what the powers that she's been hiding her whole life actually mean. It's a shock. Her learning the extent of her inheritance wasn't supposed to happen so quickly, but the antagonist is moving fast and Keira has no time for wimping out. She finds herself in the middle of a battle between those who want to protect the Akasha and the one who wants to use it to dominate the world.
The Akasha is a word with a wealth of meaning. Simply, it means all matter, everything perceived and felt, and the void is the antithesis of that. The Guardians can access the Akasha, feel the threads that connect everything and use its magical power. The Book of Knowledge--the receptacle of the accumulated knowledge of the High Priestesses from down the ages--is under their protection, for should it fall into the wrong hands, its contents could be misused to bring its owner dominion over everything. The metaphysics not only makes sense, it also has the feel of something that relates to reality, and that makes the reader look at their world anew. I love books that do this, so much so that I try to write them myself.
The characters are easy to relate to, the plot is excellent, and the pacing is well-balanced in that you don't want to put it down but there are plenty of places to catch your breath. Guardians of the Akasha is every bit as well-crafted as something put out by a major publisher. I give it 5 stars and a place on the Awesome Indies list
A well written story that kept me on the edge of my seat. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved reading this book. The words pulled me into the story and I felt like I was there experiencing every aspect of the story. It's well written! I would recommend this book Tony friends!
